Husband of Anawaya Nancy Moytoy and my 8g Grandfather
White Owl Raven was an Algonguin Infant when captured, He was adopted by the Cherokee Tribe and was raised by Woman Nancy, and was of another clan, could have been Paint Clan, which allowed him to marry Nancy Moytoy of the Wolf Clan,as People of the same clan are forbidden to marry by Cherokee Law. Later he was adopted by a man called Trader Tom Watts.,who was the friend and business partner of Thomas Pasmere Carpenter, He married Nanye Hi Nancy Moytoy II, This story by Old Frontiers, by John Brown and by Emmett Starr's history of the Cherokee.
The Raven of Hiwassee, spelled in various ways, means various Cherokee Chiefs. The Raven line, part of the Bird Band, also has links to places like Raven Rocks of Happy or Scuddy, KY and Pine Mountain and other areas. There is more than one "Raven Rocks" in Cherokee history. Some Martin families of southeast Kenticky lived in sight of Raven Rocks (Elec or Alex and Melinda Martin) and others related to the Cherokee Martin families of Cherokee Nation and tribe.

ReplyDeleteI have just found out in recent days that he is my 7th great grandfather. This is amazing! To find out you come from such intelligent, heroic, history making people! May I ask if you know how I can go about getting documentation proving these facts? I'm subscribed to Ancestry.com and it has been difficult figuring out the truth vs. what other people decided to slap down on their ancestral tree.
ReplyDeleteTry family search.org. thats where i havr my most detailed lines. Im still working to make sure things are historically accurate because people are crrating records for people without making sure its accurste but also making sure they know if the persons records already exist.
DeleteMy friend, if you already have found out that White Owl Raven is your 7th Great Grandfather, but you haven’t even started documenting your family genealogy research and study yet, which only means one thing... You may not be related at all to White Owl Raven. Did you take a dna test? Because, you know, dna doesn’t tell you who you really are, dna especially doesn’t prove Native American? My advice and suggestion to you is to do your own family genealogy research and study and do your own family genealogy research and study through MyHeritage.com, as my is 100% highly accurate on your family documentations and they not compare your family documentations with 7 different genealogy research sites, including U.S. Government records, Ancestry and FamilySearch, but they also have U.S. Government and listenings on the different Native American Rolls, especially the Rolls for the Five Civilized Tribes like the Dawes Rolls. Unlike MyHeritage, never do any family genealogy research and study on Ancestry or FamilySearch. Not only are Ancestry and FamilySearch full of nothing more than deceptive manipulation, misleading lies, con games, tampering with, twisting and distorting of truthful facts based on money and fame, but both, Ancestry and FamilySearch only compares their tampered, twisted and distorted fake documentations that they make up about your families to their own Mormon family genealogy library in Provo, Utah. You see, does Ancestry and FamilySearch like to make up fake misleading documentations with misinformation to deceptively lie about your family, but what they also love to do, is according to Mormon religion, whenever any of family members and ancestors dies, even especially without caring about you or your family’s permission, they still convert and baptize your dead family members and family ancestors into their Mormon religion. And whatever you do, do not ever, I mean ever rely on or trust in or have anything to do with dna testing, as dna doesn’t tell you who you really are and dna doesn’t even prove Native American.
DeleteYou might want to educate yourself more fully on two things rumored or based on pure speculation before announcing the chip on your shoulder about familysearch n the LDS church. I also suggest mind your own genealogy line n don't spread inaccurate information pertaining to all families within familysearch. Possibly your own genealogy line is incorrect with lack of documentation. Because It is necessary to include documentation in familysearch.org from among actual birth, marriage and death certificates also newspaper obits, gov.census, Dawes rolls, cemetery headstones, and noted family bibles. Accuracy n confirmation can always be updated by family members within the same genealogy line so to be sure information is correct. And to educate you on LDS temple ordinances one DOES need permission from closest living relative. It is unfortunate people have read the absolute inaccuracy of what you have wrote because of lack of your knowledge n research. Good luck with finding all of your genealogy line without the help of familysearch.org

DeleteHello my friends. My name is Justin Reeves. Anyways, nice to meet all of you guys, I think that we might be related, because I’m building my family tree on Ancestry.com and on even though I have a bunch of Cherokee blood from my mother’s side and my father’s side of my family and the more I dig deeper and deeper into my family tree, I’m finding and realizing the same similarities in locations and relationships between my my families. But it is on my father’s side that Chief Attakullakulla is also my 8th great grandfather. Another completely unexpected surprise is when I found Pocahontas and her family in my family through my father’s side... This is my family tree.
